Getting started with wearables or soft circuits can be expensive if you end up buying a full reel of conductive thread, or bewildering if you don’t know where to start with components. This fun little LED sewing kit avoids both those headaches by giving you a small amount of kit to have a go at your first couple of projects.
The kit contains some conductive thread, some PCB mounted coin cell battery holders, 4 LED’s and, some sewable snap fasteners which can be used to create simple on/off switches. It’s rounded out with a pair of sewing needles – there’s enough here to add a pair of glowing eyes to two soft toys or perhaps an exploratory 4 LED embroidery!
If you are short of ideas with this kit, creator Becky Stern has a heap of ideas over on their website as well as a great guide to getting started with conductive thread.
