Hello and welcome to another Friday Product Post! It's a Red Letter Day (no pun intended) for us because we have two new boards that we have been working extremely hard on, and it all starts off with the Teensy joining the MicroMod family. We've worked exclusively with PJRC to create a Teensy MicroMod Processor that can now drive a healthy assortment of MicroMod Carrier boards. This means a Teensy can now drive machine learning, weather, and GNSS applications - all from a single board! Next up, we have a new edition of our popular Arduino-based R3 board, the SparkFun RedBoard Plus. This new iteration of the RedBoard includes several quality-of-life improvements, including a USB-C connector, pin rails outside of the R3-footprint headers, a logic switch for 3.3V and 5V applications, and more! We round out the day with a new OpenLog Artemis Kit, and a new humidity and temperature sensor.
As a reminder, SparkFun will be closed on Monday, July 5th, in observance of Independence Day in the United States. Please keep in mind that any orders placed after 2:00 p.m. MDT on the 2nd will not be processed until we resume normal business hours at 9:00 a.m. MDT on Tuesday the 6th.
Enough waiting, let's jump in and take a closer look!
The SparkFun MicroMod Teensy Processor leverages the awesome computing power of the NXP iMXRT1062 chip, and pairs it with the M.2 MicroMod connector to allow you to plug it into your choice of compatible MicroMod Carrier Board. With the M.2 MicroMod connector, connecting your Teensy Processor is a breeze. Simply match up the key on your processor's beveled edge connector to the key on the M.2 connector, and secure it with a screw (included with all Carrier Boards). Adding a Teensy to your desired project has never been easier!
At SparkFun we continually like to innovate, update and improve, even when it comes to our very own development boards. The SparkFun RedBoard Plus is an Arduino-compatible development board that has everything you need in an Arduino Uno with many extra perks. The best part about the RedBoard Plus is that it utilizes our handy Qwiic Connect System, which means no soldering or shields are required to connect it to the rest of your system!
We've applied every lesson we've learned about making a better Arduino Uno and created the RedBoard Plus! The SparkFun RedBoard Plus has all of the hardware peripherals you know and love: 22x Digital I/O pins with 6x PWM pins, 8x analog pins, UART, I2C, SPI, and external interrupts. We've also broken out the SDA, SCL and IOREF pins that showed up on the Arduino Uno R3 footprint, so the RedBoard Plus is compatible with future shields (if you choose to use them). Two additional analog pins are included for A6 and A7.
The SparkFun OpenLog Artemis Kit is intended to provide everything you need to log the data of your choice with the OpenLog Artemis and the Qwiic Ecosystem. Inside the kit you will find a reversible USB-A to C cable for power, a 1250 mAh LiPo battery for remote applications, a 1 GB microSD card, and all the necessary Qwiic cables to connect the included boards. The SparkFun Qwiic Mux Breakout and SparkFun Qwiic Scale are included to enable access to data from any and all Qwiic sensors you may be using in each unique project application.
The SCD40 from Sensirion is a high quality Photoacoustic based CO₂ sensor capable of detecting 0 to 40000 ppm with the best accuracy over 400-2000 ppm ±(40 ppm+5%). In order to improve accuracy the SCD40 has integrated temperature and humidity sensing built-in. For additional accuracy the SCD40 also accepts ambient pressure readings!
The DHT20 is a low cost humidity and temperature sensor with a I2C digital output protocol. It can be applied to HVAC, dehumidifier, automatic control, data loggers, weather stations and many other projects.
That's it for this week! As always, we can't wait to see what you make! Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram or Facebook. We’d love to see what projects you’ve made! Please be safe out there, be kind to one another, and we'll see you next week with even more new products!
