Raspberry Pi single-board computers (SBCs) typically run off of a Micro SD card. You also have the option of using your Pi with an SSD, or even a thumb drive plugged into one of its USB ports. This type of setup can work well, but doesn’t fit in the typical enclosure, leaving you with loose wires or protruding hardware.
If that seems a bit inelegant to you, Marty Rice has a solution in the form of his Enclosure for Integrated Raspberry Pi & 2.5″ SDD. This acrylic box is designed to accommodate a Raspberry Pi 4, along with space for a 2.5″ SSD that’s attached with screws to the enclosures sides. The width of this clever enclosure is therefore dictated by the dimensions of the SSD, and while a standard HDD would fit mechanically, there could potentially be power issues to work out with such a setup. The enclosure also has plenty of room for a thumb drive if you choose to go that direction.
An Ethernet jack, along with a single USB port are routed to the side since they’re otherwise inaccessible, and a rear fan, as well as built-in vents are provided to keep your hardware cool. For enhanced efficiency, you might also consider an EZ Fan 2 board if you’d like to turn the fan on only when the Pi gets hot.
