If you are a regular reader of the SparkFun blog, you'll know that we aren't strangers to controversy or telling it like it is. Unfortunately, most American sports leagues have a pretty strong grip on naming rights for properties that they own. Which makes it a little tricky to call them out when the baseball fans of SparkFun get sick and tired of seeing cheating. Instead, we are going to talk about the Bad News Bears in today's video.
Figuring out signs or tells in baseball is part of the game. Whether you like it or not, it just is. However, using technology to figure out those signs or tells and then let a batter know whether or not to swing (cough, especially if you're using a haptic motor taped to a player's skin, cough) it is, in fact, cheating. You know it, I know it, and 29 teams in the MLB know it.
Anyway, we hope you enjoyed the video! Leave a comment below if you'd like us to post the build materials and code.
